In the summer of 1968, my family moved to Sarasota from Albuquerque, NM. After graduation from Sarasota high school in 1971, I enrolled in Sarasota’s internationally recognized art school, Ringling College of Art and Design. I learned the fundamentals of drawing and painting and studied under some of the best painters in the country. I graduated in 1975 with a degree in graphic design and illustration.
I spent 8 years in advertising and design and in 1983, I became a full-time fine artist. For nearly 20 years, I specialized in painting candid portraits of children and received many commissions from notable families across the country. In the early 1990’s, I taught portrait painting in community classes at Ringling. In the late 90’s, I opened a small gallery in the plaza at Capt Curts Restaurant, in the south village of Siesta Key. It was called Watercolors. I painted several times a week on the beaches, and became well know for depicting the many waterfront condos and resorts, often with shore birds and children in the foreground.
Painting continues to be my passion. I paint local scenes that depict the unique charm of Siesta Key and surrounding areas that we so enjoy on Siesta Key. I continue to keep my paintings and prints attractively priced and easily attainable.
I believe that I was given a gift and a calling to paint the beauty of God’s creation. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more grateful than ever for family, friends and my health. I live modestly in my painting studio which is located just a few miles from Siesta Key Beach, the #1 rated, best beach in the U.S.
The best gift that I have been blessed with is my family. I have two successful sons, two beautiful and accomplished daughter-in-laws, two charming granddaughters and three handsome grandsons, each bountifully gifted with love, health and good common senses.
